It has been my privilege to have Christian Science as my only physician, my mother having been wonderfully healed a few years before her marriage, when physicians had given her only twenty-four hours to live. This was at a time when Christian Science was not widely known, and the nearest practitioner was reached after a drive of fifteen miles to her home with a horse and buggy. My mother had ten happy, useful years after this healing, and used Christian Science daily.

Through the study and application of Christian Science I have had many proofs of God's protecting love, care, and guidance. Before my mother passed on, when I was five years old, she asked her brother and his wife, who had become interested in Christian Science through her healing, to care for my brother, two years of age, and for me. Nearly every childhood ailment that could present itself in a home with four children was overcome through the faithful application of the truth. Reading from the Bible and one of Mrs. Eddy's works was done nightly, no matter how late it might be when we arrived home.

Some years later I went to a distant state to be near my father. My aunt not being near at hand, I had to apply what I knew of Christian Science to the problems that presented themselves. Homesickness, loneliness, and a sense of separation were among the first to be dealt with, and were quickly mastered.
