A correspondent in the Evening News of August 2 writes regarding comment that has been expressed about the Rockhampton Agricultural Society's keeping its show open on a Sunday. He cites methods that are attempting to erase the memory of God from the minds of the people, and includes Christian Science as being of the same spirit of evil. On page 497 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, are the religious tenets of Christian Science, one of which states, "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life;" and another, in part, "We acknowledge and adore one supreme and infinite God."

Expressions of gratitude for the healing efficacy of Christian Science given at crowded, even overflowing Wednesday evening meetings, together with large and regular attendance at the Sunday services, are evidences that the Christian Science organization is based on obedience to God and His commandments.

An item from the Annual Meeting of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, held last June, and attended by approximately six thousand Christian Scientists from all over the world, is of interest at this juncture. It states: "One of the most significant developments of the past year is the increased interest in Christian Science by religionists of other denominations, expressed principally through requests for addresses on the fundamentals of Christian Science. At this time, when thought is greatly concerned with irreligion and lawlessness seeking expression everywhere, and particularly among young people, it is encouraging to note that these requests came in the main from those in charge of groups of young people allied to various religious, charitable, and educational institutions."
