"In quietness and in confidence"

Christian Science reveals the majestic truth relating to Mind and man. It is the law of God made plain through the discovery of Mary Baker Eddy, the revered Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science and the Leader of the movement. Loyally desiring to reflect its teachings creditably, Christian Scientists strive to deport themselves at all times and under all circumstances in a quiet, orderly, and respect-producing manner, so that their lives may attest the holy nature of the religion they profess.

Such standard of character is a factor contributing to the growth of the individual, and therefore of the movement, as may be inferred from Mrs. Eddy's words with reference to "how much time and toil are still required to establish the stately operations of Christian Science" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 464). That thought and action in accordance with "the stately operations of Christian Science" have been and will continue to be integral to the establishment of this Science as a fixed dispensation among all peoples, is attested by its present status throughout the world.

There is probably no quality worthier of cultivation than the quietness or poise which may be manifested in word and deed even in the minutiæ of daily affairs. As demonstrated through the application of Christian Science, the steadfast nature of such scientific serenity is not stoicism or callous indifference to inharmonious conditions. It is spiritual understanding of the dear Father's infinite ability to sustain and protect His children.
