The New Nation

IN this hour, when the thought of world peace is uppermost in the minds of men, it is gratifying to realize that the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, gave to the world a practical plan for accomplishing this long-cherished world unity. This plan is clearly outlined in that which may be termed a spiritual peace treaty, and is to be found on page 340 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," where Mrs. Eddy writes as follows: "One infinite God, good, unifies men and nations; constitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfils the Scripture, 'Love thy neighbor as thyself.' "

From the moment this plan was given to the world it began to fulfill its mission to "unify men and nations." At that moment began the formation of the new nation which is now arising over the world. The citizens of this new nation are learning to think in terms of Principle and to speak the new tongue. Their citizenship is in heaven, harmony, and they understand the prophecy of Isaiah, "Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder." Because of the realization that, in their spiritual being, all are equally the sons of God, that each has a place in the divine plan, and that each eternally expresses happiness and supply, material strife, competition, and lack are recognized as but phantoms of a discordant dream. This spiritual realization comes through the Christian Science interpretation of what might be termed the emancipation proclamation of Christ Jesus, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

So, through a spiritual understanding of the Scriptures a new nation is being born, and multitudes are beginning to realize spiritual citizenship. In proportion as individuals surrender their material concepts, national limitations and national failings begin to fade out of thought, and the time approaches
