Christian Science has been my only physician for over...
Christian Science has been my only physician for over twelve years. I was healed instantaneously of chronic throat trouble of many years' standing through reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy; and with the help of a loving practitioner I was also healed of a serious internal trouble after three physicians had said that nothing but a major operation could help me. This healing was slow, but I gained much through persistent study during that time; this made the prolonged healing a blessing, although I did not see it then. Since then, instead of looking for physical results, I am striving to gain that Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus," as that Mind, and that alone, eliminates whatever is inharmonious, be it physical, mental, or moral.
A member of my family had a very quick temper and an ugly disposition, always finding fault, until it seemed that our home would be broken up as this condition was unbearable for the rest of the family. But while I was reading the Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly one day, the light came with the words from Science and Health (p. 304), "Divine Principle is the Life of man." The thought came to me immediately, If divine Principle is the Life of man, then man cannot reflect anything but love and kindness or be anything but loving and lovable. I held to this thought persistently and in a short time this person was completely changed, at the same time being healed of a chronic stomach trouble of fifteen years' standing. The disease left with the ugly disposition, showing it to be mental and not physical. The smoking of tobacco was given up at the same time. This healing took place over nine years ago.
My little daughter was healed of granulated eyelids after several physicians said there was no cure, as this condition was the after effects of measles; but nothing is impossible with God. At one time my son while at work fell into a deep trench filled with hot steam pipes, burning the entire length of one arm and a small part of his back. When word came to me over the telephone I was so thankful that I was able to declare the truth immediately, and was not afraid to trust God. He was taken to the company's doctor in compliance with the law, and the burns were dressed. When he came home he asked me to take the bandages off as he said the medicine was hurting him. I took them off and put a clean bandage on. The next day he went back to work, but early in the afternoon his knee began bothering him and he could hardly walk; so he was again taken to the doctor, who said the knee cap was dislocated. He told my son not to walk for at least twenty-eight days, or his knee would always be stiff. When I heard this I had a little fear, so I called a practitioner; but she told me to go right on and take care of the case myself, saying that a man-made law has no power, that in reality my son was with God, where he always is. These words were spoken with authority for they left me without a particle of fear. I was able to see him as in reality God's spiritual idea, free and perfect, and in less than a week he went back to work, free from any sign of an accident.
