It is a wonderful privilege and a sacred duty to express...
It is a wonderful privilege and a sacred duty to express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me. The dawning of this glorious truth on my consciousness was the beginning of a new life for me.
For many years I had longed to become a useful member of society, but unfortunately I was so fettered by limiting thoughts that I was not able to take any steps toward success. Lack of money prevented me from seeking health in the way I at that time thought to be the right one, and also from learning the profession I longed to enter. After the inflation, when unemployment was increasing rapidly, the thought of being too old to begin anew presented itself, although I was but twenty-nine.
Then I heard of Christian Science. The first thing I learned was that God supplies all need. So, although I had no money of my own, I was convinced that I should receive the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, of which I was in need. And in what a wonderful manner I did receive it! I shall never forget the joy this demonstration gave me. But I grew more and more discontented, for I could not find employment. Every time a need arose I thought, Now God will give me work which will be remunerated so that I can procure what I need. The need was always met, sometimes in a very astonishing manner, but not through work which was paid for. Then all at once I realized that the purpose of our work is not to gain material supply, but to express the divine qualities. From that time on I have always had remunerative work.
