[Written for the Sentinel]

Peace, Be Still

PEACE, be still! Oh, may we know
That peace is ever near,
That God His tender love doth show
To all who claim His care.

Peace, be still! On those that mourn
His grace falls like the dew;
Lifting their hearts to seek His face,
Their peace they will renew.

Peace, be still! The heavenly dove
Of peace broods over all;
The white-robed messenger of Love
Heeds every suppliant's call.

Oh, may we learn to dwell with God,
And seek to do His will!
Then will His children kiss the cross,
And know peace, and be still.
