The well-known promise of Christ Jesus, "Ye shall know...

The well-known promise of Christ Jesus, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," was not fully understood by me until I experienced this freedom through the healing of gastric ulcer and hemorrhage ten years ago. When it seemed that I was passing on I was asked whether I would have Christian Science treatment, and absent treatment was lovingly given by a practitioner. Step by step I have proved the certainty of Jesus' promise, and have relied entirely on God ever since.

By getting a clearer vision through the study of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I have experienced many healings since that time, and one I should like especially to mention in the hope of helping others. I awoke one Sunday morning and attempted to rise, but was unable to move. Then I thought I would read from the textbook, which was by my bed, but I could not move my hands to get it; so I said aloud, "Well, at any rate, I can think of what I know," and these words just shone out like letters of gold: "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine" (Science and Health, p. 14). I got no farther than this, but realized so clearly the truth of the statement that I had no further remembrance of the condition until I found myself dressed and opening the door of the room.

I cannot fully express the gratitude I owe to Christian Science. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for the privilege of class instruction and working in the Field.
