On many occasions I have been encouraged and led to perceive the healing truth through reading testimonies in our periodicals. A keen desire to help others as I have been helped, and sincere gratitude for my small measure of understanding of Christian Science, prompt me to give this much overdue testimony.

In my own experience many disorders, both mental and physical, have been overcome by the application of Christian Science. These include disappointment, self-depreciation, melancholia, lack of supply, chronic and acute malaria, colds, and many other discordant conditions. With no specific treatment the desire for smoking and for alcoholic drinks has completely disappeared since I commenced to study Christian Science. Also, I have experienced painless dentistry and mental surgery.

The efficacy of right thinking was clearly apparent in the last-mentioned healing, which took place while resident at college some years ago. The clavicle was fractured while I was playing Rugby football. Two physicians attended me, set the bone, and instructed me to remain in bed. It was stated that it would probably take several weeks for the bone to mend. I then asked for Christian Science treatment by a registered practitioner in another town. The accident occurred on a Monday afternoon. The following Monday I was still in bed and the bone had not commenced to knit. On thinking things over I realized that I bitterly resented being forced to remain in bed. This resentment was handled immediately. After a lapse of two days I asked someone to remove the bandages for me and dressed myself without difficulty or discomfort. Two weeks after the accident I played tennis.
