About four and a half years ago I was invited to attend a Christian Science testimony meeting, although I knew nothing of its teachings. Little did I know that it would meet all my needs. At that time I felt down and out. Our home had been sold in order to help a sick business, and even this help only temporarily assisted the situation. My nerves were in a very bad state, and I believed that excessive drinking and smoking were my only relief.
The teachings of Christian Science were accepted without question, and within a few months the tobacco habit of long standing and also the drinking habit were cured. Christian Science gave me hope, and instead of running away from the serious business problems I was able to face them in a common-sense manner. The business comprises the export of goods to the Far East, and at a time when these markets were believed to be in a deplorable state, quite a normal trading was maintained. Moreover, the relationship with clients abroad and also with suppliers at home has never been so happy before. The housing problem was solved in a most loving manner.
Although our family were brought up in an orthodox church, the Bible had really been a closed book to us. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy has now made it an open book. I am grateful for all the blessings which have come into my life through Christian Science, and to the friends who have so often helped me.
