With the following testimony I wish to express my profound gratitude to God and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for all the blessings which have come to me.

My son from his fourth year had suffered from a serious compound rupture and was obliged to wear a truss day and night. When he was ten years old he complained of severe pains in the abdomen. My husband had him taken to the best surgeon in Posen, who diagnosed a third rupture, a rupture such as he had never seen in all the years he had been in practice. He urged an operation. I had been studying Christian Science for only a short time, so my understanding of it was very slight; but I did understand that God is Love and the only power. I could not decide upon an operation, and so I went to see the doctor myself. He strongly advised me to have my son operated upon within a week.

None of those near me were Christian Scientists, and I did not know how I was to prevent the operation. Several days passed, high fever manifested itself, and the doctor who was called diagnosed complications, with quinsy and tympanitis. The boy's temperature rose higher and higher, and he grew more and more restless. I read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and clung constantly to the thought that God is Love. As my son continued to get worse, I said, "If God is Love, now is the time to prove it." At that moment the boy raised himself up and fell back again on the pillows. As I bent over him he was breathing quietly. Such a sense of gratitude came over me at that moment that I took the truss off the sleeping child. The next morning he asked to get up. The doctor stood as before a miracle. A few days later I asked my son if he would like to ride horseback, and he did so joyously. When he came home I said to him, "You are not wearing a truss." Greatly alarmed, he looked at himself to see if this were so. Neither he nor I saw a rupture. Since then eight years have passed.
