Shrewsbury Chronicle

The letter from "K.T." in last week's issue makes it clear that your correspondent, while honest and sincere in his opinions, has little if any understanding of Christian Science. In order to gain this understanding it is necessary to study the Bible in conjunction with the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. One must also live in accordance with the truth revealed therein, by demonstrating its practicability in everyday affairs.

Christian Science strongly upholds the divinity of the Christ. Christian Scientists do not, however, understand that Jesus was God, but that he was the Son of God, as he himself declared. Moreover, they share this understanding with many other religionists. Christian Scientists honor Christ Jesus as their wonderful Way-shower, leading them out of bondage to sin, sickness, and death into the glorious freedom which belongs to the children of God; while, at the same time, they adhere strictly to the First Commandment.
