Manifestation

The word "manifestation," familiar to all students of Christian Science, has several meanings. When used in Christian Science it generally indicates the evidence of spiritual Truth, or the evidence of spiritual sense as opposed to the false beliefs of the so-called material senses.

The Christian Scientist, mindful of the Master's command, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature," knows that in order to do this he must have clear and practical evidence of the truth of this gospel, this good news, by "confirming the word with signs following." That is, he must confirm the Word by healing through the Word.

In reality, health can never be lost or destroyed, for it is an eternal quality of Life, God, who is unchanging in the harmony and perfection of His being. There is therefore, in reality, no condition of ill health to be changed into a condition of health; indeed, the conjunction of the words "ill" and "health" is really a contradiction in terms. We cannot alter our true spiritual condition, for "now are we the sons of God," the perfect expression of perfect Mind; but we need to, and can, know the truth about our true spiritual selfhood. We cannot change God or His idea, man; but we need to, and can, know both God and man, and through this spiritual understanding be enabled to offer to suffering humanity the clear evidence of the truth it so greatly needs.
