With deep gratitude for the freedom which has come into my life through Christian Science, I desire to testify to its healing efficacy. For many years I was a semi-invalid, suffering from nervous sick headaches which kept me in bed three days at a time. The only relief obtained from medical treatment was by taking hypodermic injections of morphine. This drug was also taken in tablet form. I was treated by stomach and nerve specialists, and was on a strict diet, but in spite of the efforts of kind and loving physicians the attacks of suffering increased in frequency and duration. I had also suffered for many years from constipation, for which I not only took medicine daily, but resorted to other methods of treatment. When insomnia was added to the other ailments, my life indeed was a burden to me.

After hearing of Christian Science, I procured a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, read it and began to study it in connection with the Bible, and had treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. Not long after this, I began to improve, but the healing was slow. As I realized that I was being held in bondage by fear, this was an incentive to more faithful study, and the result was a complete healing. It is over twenty years since I turned to Christian Science. I am in excellent health, and am striving daily to express my gratitude by helping others to know that God is "a very present help in trouble."

The world indeed owes a debt of gratitude to our revered Leader for her many years of untiring, unselfish work, the result of which was the revelation of Truth as contained in the Bible. Science and Health is undoubtedly the "key" to the Bible, and it is opening the door of spiritual understanding to "millions of unprejudiced minds—simple seekers for Truth, weary wanderers, athirst in the desert— ... waiting and watching for rest and drink" (Science and Health, p. 570).
