Truth Heals

Christian Science is proving to men that the power of God, divine Truth, is ever present and ever available to heal and to save. Christian Science is telling them the truth about God, revealing to them His unfailing goodness and love, and teaching them that as this truth is understood it destroyes the erroneous beliefs of sin, sickness, and sorrow, which men entertain. How true are the words of the psalm to the student of Christian Science: "The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth"! God, he knows, is omnipresent and omnipotent, and His power is immediately available to all who love good and realize that good alone has power.

Now mortals believe what the material senses seem to tell them. They believe in the reality of matter and evil and in the phenomena of matter and evil. The storm and the tempest are real to them; the earthquake and the devastating fire are real to them; the slowly developing disease and the ravaging plague are real to them: in short, mortals believe in the reality of every form of evil. But even as they do this, they are continually wondering when evil will cease to trouble them. The wrongness of evil is obvisous to them; and the hope within them that will not be stilled is that some day every seeming manifestation of evil will be obliterated. There is a great, a divine, reason inspiring the hope that all belief in evil will finally disappear.

Divine Science reveals the fact that since God, Spirit, is infinite good, matter and evil are unreal. And since matter and evil are unreal, all their seeming derivatives are likewise unreal. This may seem impossible to material sense; but nevertheless it is true that, as Christian Science teaches, not a single material phenomenon, whether it appear to be good or whether it appear to be evil, has an iota of truth in it. Only the phenomena of Spirit are real or true; and these are unalterably and eternally good. As this is discerned, the unreality of sin or disease becomes apparent and the belief of sin or disease is destroyed.
