[Written for the Sentinel]

My Prayer

O Father-Mother , hear my prayer
For grace to do Thy will.
Thou wilt my selfish aims rebuke
And bid my fears be still.
In Thee I find security,
For Thou alone art good;
When hungry, I will turn to Thee;
Thou givest needful food.

When in earth's wintry storm and frost
Affection fades away,
My sun Thou art, Thy warmth I seek,
And there my burden lay;
Within my heart Thy love again
Like flowers of spring will grow,
And meekness and compassion sweet
Like wells of water flow.

O loving Father-Mother God,
I feel Thy presence near;
And when I touch Thy perfect love,
It casteth out all fear.
May I abide in Truth's own light,
Where mortal shadows fade,
And there behold Thy perfect child,
The man whom Thou hast made.
