True Manhood
Man in God's image and likeness is glorious in spiritual beauty, marvelous in ability and wisdom. He is forever about his Father's business, the eternal business of expressing divine perfection. He is the full reflection of God. Since God is Mind, man forever manifests and enjoys Mind's inexhaustible wealth of divine intelligence; and nothing can hide from his pure spiriutal perception the perfection and beauty of the real universe.
Far different, however, from this radiant concept of man as it is presented in the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, is the generally accepted human concept of man. The human mind, so called, centers thoughts on a fleshly body, and conceives of man largely in terms of physical form, color, age, and limited ability. Christian Science reveals the fact that such considerations have no relation whatever to the real, God-created man, but always relate only to a counterfeit concept, a false belief about man, which is far removed from the image and likeness of God.
Questions as to the nature, origin, and destiny of individuals are insistent in human thought; and rightly so. We have a divine right to know the truth, and Christian Science is bringing to all seekers the true definition of man. Throughout the writings of Mary Baker Eddy are to be found many elucidations and explanations of the nature of man. Also, the vast difference between man, as God knows, beholds, and loves him, and the beliefs of mortals as to what constitutes genuine selfhood is clearly set forth. Mrs. Eddy's answer to the question, "What is man?" on pages 475 and 476 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," is of vital importance to the race; for a full understanding of it would result in the solution of every human problem and the complete disappearance of all evil. Sin, disease, and death would vanish from experience and be utterly forgotten.
