Several years ago a physician stated that it would be necessary for me to undergo a surgical operation, and that it must take place right away or I would lose my life. I was almost frightened into consenting to this operation. However, after the physician had left the house, my thought went back to four former operations, and I realized as never before that the knife does not cure, nor do drugs heal. I then decided to give Christian Science a thorough trial, and within a few days I was able to call upon a practitioner. In a very short time I was healed of this physical difficulty. While grateful for this healing, I am more grateful that this loving practitioner called my attention to the first psalm. I had been studying the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which made very clear to me the meaning of this psalm.

After a short time the way opened for me to go to Boston, where I had the joyous privilege of visiting The Mother Church and attending the Christian Science services. I also attended services in the Christian Science church at Concord, New Hampshire.
