I suffered for some years from what the physicians...
I suffered for some years from what the physicians termed an internal disorder. As I found no help in this country, the physicians advised going abroad for treatment. This I did, but was not cured. Returning home, I gradually grew worse and despaired of ever being well. At this time Christian Science was lovingly brought to my attention. I purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and began to read it. Very soon I became convinced it was the truth, and with this conviction I went to the medicine cabinet and destroyed its contents. Shortly afterwards I had the worst attack I had ever experienced. I asked a Christian Science practitioner for help, and felt immediate relief; and within a few minutes all pain had disappeared. I was perfectly and permanently healed. A few days later I found that a rupture of several years' standing had disappeared. Shortly after this, all desire for alcoholic drink left me, and healing of the tobacco habit soon followed. Thus the words of our beloved Leader (Science and Health, Pref., p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings," were practically demonstrated in my experience.
I soon learned that Mrs. Eddy had wisely and lovingly provided the Christian Science periodicals, which she terms "the organs of this Church" (Manual, p. 44). These were subscribed to, and membership in The Mother Church and a branch church was sought. All these activities brought additional joys and a clearer understanding of man's relationship to God. I am increasingly grateful to all those who have had a part in aiding me to understand this wonderful truth, and to Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, who through her untiring devotion to right and her deep love for God and all mankind has been able to give us this great heritage of true, scientific healing.
Samuel D. Weil, Cleveland, Ohio.
