Among the Churches
Current Notes
Houghton, Michigan (First Church).—The edifice of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Houghton has now been dedicated. The property, which is both attractive and desirable, consists of the church building which is located on two lots on Montezuma Street, at the corner of Second. In addition to this, the church bought two additional lots facing the church between Montezuma Street and Memorial Road. This provides for an unobstructed view of Portage Lake from the church. Since the property was acquired, it has been remodeled and redecorated to meet the requirements. The outside of the building is painted white, and the interior is attractively decorated and cosily furnished. The building provides an auditorium with a seating capacity for about one hundred persons, Reading Rooms, and Sunday school rooms.—Houghton and Calumet Daily Mining Gazette.
Marysville, California (First Church).—The church, situated at the southwest corner of Seventh and E Streets, is of semiclassical architecture. It is built of Thermotite tile. The main auditorium has a seating capacity of two hundred and fifty. This can be increased to a capacity of five hundred persons, if desired.
Since construction of the building was started early in September a structure has risen which is an architectural asset to the community. Its exterior beauty is indicative of the beauty found within.—Appeal-Democrat.
