I want to express my sincere gratitude for many blessings received through Christian Science. The understanding it has given me of God as Love and Principle has entirely altered my outlook on life.

From childhood I had dreaded the thought of growing up and going out into the world to earn a living; for there had always been much discord, unhappiness, and suffering around me, and the world seemed very cruel. Added to that, an acute sense of self-consciousness caused a dread of coming into contact with others, which amounted to mental torture. After I grew up difficulties increased, and I became more and more unhappy till, at the time Christian Science came into my life through a relative who told me that the Christian Science God is Love, I was in such a state of mental depression that it seemed almost impossible to go on; and I would retire at night hoping not to awaken the next morning.

The reading of a Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly on the subject, "Probation after Death," for the first time revealed to my thought that nothing is changed by passing through the experience called death, but that the overcoming of wrong thinking alone can bring salvation; and from that moment I ceased to feel that nothing was worth while. Through the study of the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, and with the help of Christian Science treatment, I was gradually and completely freed from depression, and the sense of self-consciousness has very much lessened.
