Your recent issue contains a letter on the subject of Christian Science which needs correction. The fundamental basis of Christian Science is the infinitude of God, Spirit, and every conclusion drawn by Mrs. Eddy in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," conforms to this premise. Our critic should be logical. If he acknowledges the infinitude of God, good, then he must agree with the Christian Scientist. If he does not agree with the Christian Scientist, then he is denying the infinitude of God, good. There are many professing Christianity to-day who declare that they believe God to be omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, infinite, All-in-all, and yet assert that evil is real, showing thereby that they do not understand the premise. God's infinitude is not supported by physical sense testimony. In fact, physical sense testimony argues that evil is real, ever present, claiming to have power and intelligence. Christian Science declares that this testimony has to be denied, for it is the testimony of the carnal mind which is "enmity against God." It is in the proportion that one gains the Mind of Christ, the divine Mind, that the truth of Christian Science is discerned, and its possessor is enabled to emulate in some degree the works of our Master, Christ Jesus, in healing the sick and reforming the sinner.

Mrs. Eddy rediscovered the divine Principle by which the prophets, Christ Jesus, his disciples, and the early Christians healed the sick, raised the dead, reformed the sinner, and performed many other wonderful works. This divine Principle and its spiritual idea coexist throughout all time. Mrs. Eddy writes on page 333 of Science and Health: "Throughout all generations both before and after the Christian era, the Christ, as the spiritual idea,—the reflection of God,—has come with some measure of power and grace to all prepared to receive Christ, Truth. Abraham, Jacob, Moses, and the prophets caught glorious glimpses of the Messiah, or Christ, which baptized these seers in the divine nature, the essence of Love. The divine image, idea, or Christ was, is, and ever will be inseparable from the divine Principle, God. Jesus referred to this unity of his spiritual identity thus: 'Before Abraham was, I am;' 'I and my Father are one;' 'My Father is greater than I.'"

Christian Science is fulfilling the command of Christ Jesus to preach the gospel and to heal the sick, and its phenomenal spread throughout the civilized world to-day is due to the fact that these conditions are being fulfilled.
