[Written for the Sentinel]

Floral Apostles*

When in our thoughts sweet flowers bloom
They make green gardens out of sorrow grow,
And banish gloom.
They bring good cheer, though burdens press
And all the world seems colored with a hue
Full comfortless,
They come, dear thoughts of Truth and Life,
Raising and holding high the deathless hope
That stills all strife.
