What a blessed privilege it is to live in this age and to be...
What a blessed privilege it is to live in this age and to be permitted to enjoy the benefits derived from the study and application of Christian Science! For more than eight years this privilege has been mine, and it is with heartfelt gratitude I give my testimony, holing it may help someone who is searching for the truth that makes free. My study has given me a truer sense of home and happiness. Faults of character have been corrected, and better mental, and physical conditions prevail.
I have had many proofs that Christian Science heals not only physical discords, but sorrow as well. Chicken pox was overcome within twenty-four hours after the breaking out, and the thought of contagion was beautifully met. A severe case of influenza was overcome in three days. The fourth day I made a long trip downtown, attended to all my duties, and felt no ill effects therefrom. I have been healed of grief when dear ones passed on. These experiences were met with the aid of loving practitioners.
There comes a time when each one must prove the truth for himself. That time came to me more than three years ago while in the Middle West. I heard a great deal of talk about an epidemic of intestinal influenza. I failed to protect my own thought, and as a consequence manifested all the symptoms. I knew I must work it out alone, for the family were not Christian Scientists and I was many miles from a practitioner. The story of Jacob's wrestle with error came to me, and I knew that if he could prevail, so could I. I worked most of the night. When morning came I took my place at the breakfast table as usual, and not one of the household knew I had passed through such an experience. To me it was an added proof of God's care.
