I became interested in Christian Science about eighteen...
I became interested in Christian Science about eighteen years ago while living in the far north country. Since God is Spirit, and is everywhere present, as taught by our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," I found God there as elsewhere an ever present help in time of need.
At this particular time I was healed of homesickness. I was given "Miscellaneous Writings," and while I was reading it many ailments left me, such as neuralgia in head and ears, also pains which a doctor had said would never leave me.
I am so grateful also for the overcoming of undesirable traits of character, false judging, the passing of unkind remarks, and many other faults.
Later on I was obliged to call more than once on a Christian Science practitioner to help me clear my mental home and show me how to mind my own business regarding others in the family, and to know that God guides, governs, and directs them.
Over two years ago I fell from a stove into a coal pail, my right hand doubling in under me. I got up and tried to think of "the scientific statement of being," as given on page 468 of the Christian Science textbook. Just then I heard a wagon going by. I called, and a boy came in. I asked him to telephone to a Christian Science practitioner in an adjoining city. The answer came promptly and the first words of the practitioner were, "God does not know anything about accidents or broken bones." I tried to realize the truth about my true spiritual selfhood and the practitioner worked faithfully. I slept well that night, but the next morning my hand and arm hurt so much that my husband thought I should let a doctor see it. He came and said my arm was broken in two places and also across the wrist. I let him set it. I then told him I was going to rely upon Christian Science treatment, and did not see him again after that. I read our textbook faithfully and work was continued for a little while by the practitioner. My arm is now normal and as strong as ever it was.
