Jewish Voice

Referring to the news item reprinted from the Jewish Times in your issue of August 23, under the heading "Are Christian Scientists Jews?" reference is made to Christian Science as a "sort of faith healers, ... an organization that pretends to be a religion."

Kindly allow me space in your paper to correct these statements, and to say for the benefit of the readers of the Jewish Voice that Christian Science, as discovered and founded by Mary Baker Eddy, relies wholly upon prayer to God to heal, and is not to be confounded with or likened unto faith-healing, as commonly understood.

Christian Science does not pretend to be, but is, the Christian religion, established solely upon the Scriptures and the words and works of Christ Jesus, having for its purpose the restoration of the primitive Christianity which Jesus taught and practiced in healing the sick, reforming the sinner, and comforting the sorrowing.
