Because of a feeling of profound gratitude to God and also to Mrs. Eddy, who has caused me to know Him through her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," I wish to tell how I was healed of a severe illness which had kept me in bed for seven months. Following a difficult experience in childbirth I suddenly became ill after being up for several days. The physician diagnosed serious internal difficulties, also liver complaint. This physician cared for me with great devotion, and asked us to call another physician for consultation.

This condition lasted for six months, and every day I grew weaker. One morning the physician told my husband that there was nothing more to try, and no hope; and I was not to take any solid food for fear of intestinal trouble. That evening some friends, just returning from vacation, came to see me and spoke to me of Christian Science and the healings accomplished by the understanding of God, who is Love, consequently good, as Mrs. Eddy explains to us in her wonderful textbook.

It was difficult for me to conceive of God other than as I had been taught since childhood. Nevertheless, I listened with interest and tried to understand what my friends were saying, that "all life is harmonious in God: that He does not send sickness or pain, but heals whoever places his hope and confidence in Him." The next day I began to follow the teachings which these dear friends so kindly explained to me. I put aside all medicine and gradually ate all kinds of food; and strength came back to me. Ten days later I rose, and a few days after that took a walk. During the five years that my husband and I have practiced the teachings of Christian Science, we have had beautiful demonstrations of the allpresence of God.
