Mrs. Eddy asks in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures...

Mrs. Eddy asks in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 3), "Are we really grateful for the good already received?" It is to express my gratitude, at least in part, that I send this testimony. It is over twenty-three years since my mother first took up the study of Christian Science. She was healed of extreme nervousness, and this was but the beginning of a multitude of blessings, the most important being the presence of this wonderful truth in our daily experience. I was but a child when this first healing came to her, and since then, in every stage of experience, as a schoolgirl, in business life, as a wife and mother, I have used this blessed friend, Christian Science.

Severe cases of fever, bad cough, and extreme fear of examinations were healed when I was in school. Later, when in the business world, God was always my strength and guide. At this time I had a wonderful proof of God's protection when a freight elevator in which I was riding with some other girls, fell eight floors to the basement. I could only repeat, "God is here." After the crash I got out and went upstairs, continuing my work for the rest of the day with no bad effects other than a small bruise on one knee. As a mother, I can truly say that there is nothing so helpful and comforting as the understanding of God as taught in Christian Science.

At the birth of twins, a discord which might have cost the life of one of them was met by the faithful work of a Christian Science practitioner who was present. This birth occurred on a Monday evening and I went on a street car to church the following Sunday. All kinds of so-called children's diseases, and two cases of broken bones, have been healed; also, severe cases of influenza during an epidemic were quickly overcome with the help of a practitioner. I have also had instantaneous healings of burns and headaches. However, the mental strength and support during times of stress and the overcoming of fear I consider as even greater proofs of the genuine truth of this Science. I am deeply grateful for our literature; for membership and activity in a branch church, and for The Mother Church and the Manual. I am also grateful for the friends and practitioners who have been so faithful and loving in time of need.
