I became interested in Christian Science in 1917...
I became interested in Christian Science in 1917. I had been ill for several months with neurasthenia, the physicians doing all they could for me but giving me very little encouragement as to when I should be well again. At this time, when I was seemingly overwhelmed with fear and suffering, a friend asked me to try Christian Science. Knowing nothing of this method of healing, and learning that I would have to give up the physician, I at first felt that I could not do so. However, after I had pondered over it all through the night, the thought came to me that I ought to try Christian Science. I therefore sent for a practitioner, and in a very short time was healed. I have always been very grateful for this first healing, because it was the beginning of a better understanding of God as the loving Father-Mother, who is always ready to heal and to save.
I have had many healings and blessings through the study of Christian Science. I have been healed of chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, a badly sprained ankle, and many other ills. I was also healed of the tobacco habit, having been an inveterate smoker for more than thirty years. I am very grateful for all these physical healings, but still more thankful for the better understanding of God and the Bible which I have gained through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," given to us by Mary Baker Eddy.
