When quite a child, although attending an orthodox Sunday school...
When quite a child, although attending an orthodox Sunday school, I frequently found myself asking God to lead me into the true religion and to show me the true way of living. Having never been well and strong, I spent much time in a weak, sickly condition; and most of the time I was under the care of our family physician. Later in life, after trying material means for several years and not improving in health, I was told that an operation might bring health; but this was not submitted to. Christian Science was then presented to me. Discouraged and unhappy I turned to it, and was healed through the loving help of a practitioner in a very short time. The joy and happiness that came to me after visiting the practitioner will never be forgotten.
It was some time after I became a student of Christian Science that my early experience came back to my thought, revealing to me that my prayer had been answered. Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, tells us in the chapter on Prayer in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 1), that "desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires."
During the past seventeen years Christian Science has been my only help. It has given me a better understanding of God; and I know now that Christian Science is the true religion. For all the activities of the Christian Science movement established by Mrs. Eddy, and for her pure, consecrated life, which enabled her to give to the world this healing truth, I am truly grateful.
