[Written for the Sentinel]

Flowers

O LOVELY ministers of Love,
From the uncurling of your smallest leaf,
The palest flush along your petal tips,
To spreading triumph of the full-blown disc,
And depth of radiance in a rose's heart,
You symbol Love's own beauty, joy, and power;
You serve Love's purpose, ever ministering,
Out of your very presence shedding grace,
That all may share, and sharing may be blest.
O lovely ministers of Love!
