The Church Building Fund

Mrs. Eddy , the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and Leader of the Christian Science movement, approved of the natural desire of a branch church to possess its own site, build its own structure, and have it dedicated to the service of God—Life, Truth, and Love; for in her will she made provision for assistance to branch churches in the completing of their demonstration.

The desire to share with other seekers of Truth the privilege of the church services gives rise to the realization of the necessity of a permanent church home. And the first step towards attaining this end is the establishment of a church building fund.

A dictionary defines the word "building" as "the act of establishing." After the establishing of this fund has taken place, out of gratitude to God for Christian Science, the fund begins to accumulate. Webster defines the word "fund," in part, as "deposit of resources from which supplies are or may be drawn." Christian Scientists know that God, Spirit, is the only real substance, and that spiritual ideas alone constitute true resources. Courage, love, and gratitude brought to the church services and meetings increase the true sense of supply. The assurance that divine Mind guides, combined with strong resolve to allow no false material beliefs to hide the fact of God's omnipresent bountiful resources, aids in the demonstration.
