"Happy is the man"

"Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding," we read in Proverbs. Solomon, rich in this world's goods, saw that understanding by far exceeded in value silver, gold, precious rubies, and anything else that material sense could desire. Long life, riches, honor, pleasantness, and peace are to be found in understanding, he declared, adding that "she is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her."

One great contribution which Christian Science is making to the world's happiness is that it is helping men to find wisdom and to get understanding. To the question, Where is this understanding to be found? there is but one answer. It is to be found in God, and is attainable only through spiritualized thinking, which is thinking in terms of Spirit, God, all-inclusive good.

An individual who in his everyday human experiences is placing added emphasis or value on good is a joy to everyone with whom he comes in contact. His very presence is a rebuke to whosoever or whatsoever would minimize good and magnify evil. The following words from the fifty-second chapter of Isaiah surely apply to such a person: "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!"
