Sickness, profound sorrow caused by the death of dear relatives, as well as anxiety and worry about the daily needs of myself and my children, had brought me to a desperate condition. "Man's extremity is God's opportunity," it is said; and this proved to be true in my case.

When, on an excursion in 1923, I asked a friend who, I knew, had been healed in a wonderful manner, what remedy she had applied, she said, "Christian Science." This was the first time I had heard of Christian Science; and immediately I felt myself drawn to this beautiful teaching, and was confident that I too would be freed from my suffering and sorrow through divine Love. After this I began to attend the uplifting Sunday services and Wednesday evening testimony meetings, and earnestly to read the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. A loving practitioner to whom I turned for help did loyal work for me, so that in a short time I not only was healed of my suffering, but had made such progress in the understanding of Christian Science that I could prove the truth of its wonderful teaching for my family and myself in the healing of blood poisoning, burns, and other troubles.
