In daily conversation with friends, the subject of Christian Science was frequently presented. After it had been spoken of several times and nobody seemed to know much about it, I decided to do some reading on the subject, thinking that by so doing I would be able to discuss it in a more intelligent manner. I borrowed "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and did some reading each day, but soon found it was not only to be read but to be studied. After returning the book I thought little of it for several months. Then one day, having decided to apply Christian Science to a certain problem, I purchased a copy.

It did not, however, occur to me to apply Christian Science to anything as real as I then supposed disease to be. Suffering from hay fever, supposedly brought about by change from a northern to a southern climate, and being in bondage to this, I suffered not only in certain seasons but during the entire year. Physicians and pharmacists very lovingly labored to cure or relieve me of this disease, but in vain. As I read Science and Health without a thought of physical healing, it was unfolded to me that I was not thinking rightly, that disease was only a belief; and healing came instantly. Since then many other healings have been experienced, of colds, dengue fever, sick headache, sprained ankle, malaria, and numerous other ills.

I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church. I am thankful for the pleasure and privilege of giving this testimony as a proof of God's loving care, and for all that Christian Science has taught and is teaching the world about God and about Christ Jesus as the Way-shower. My appreciation for Mrs. Eddy and what she has done for mankind has been greatly increased by reading the history of her life by Sibyl Wilbur. For The Christian Science Monitor and all the other Christian Science literature, and for the lectures, I am indeed thankful.
