[Written for the Sentinel]

When We Shall Know

Free to express infinity!

O wondrous word,
Hallowed by angel throng;
One glad refrain,
A grand hosanna song!

A choir triumphant,
Pulsing with wings of might,
This clarion call
Bids men to rise from night.

Free to reflect infinity!

O glorious hope,
Full of good cheer!
Each wind-whipped heart
Mounts from its bier. ...

New moons of peace shall plume
With myriad glow
Old shades of cradled bloom;
For each shall know,
In this effulgent flow,
Himself as God's own child.
