When Christian Science came to me I was in a darkness blacker than any bottomless pit. I had been suffering intensely for several years from diseased or infected bones of the face and nose. Like the woman spoken of in the Bible, I had suffered much of many physicians, and without a particle of help. My sensitive intuition quickly detected their doubt of their own remedies, both surgical and medical, and after many operations and years of suffering I lost all confidence in doctors and their theories. I was desperately afraid of death, yet I could not endure the intense suffering much longer.

I knelt by my bed one night, for the first time in years, and asked God for help and for light. The very next day my prayer for light was answered. A friend called and told me of the wonderful healings which Christian Science was accomplishing, and left me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I was directed to a practitioner, and my first talk with this good woman convinced me that at last I was on the right road.

I shall never forget with what loving confidence she reassured me, and how sharply her confidence in her remedy contrasted with the lack of this quality in the physicians. Under Christian Science treatment, every evidence of infection and decomposition and all pain completely disappeared. This was over eleven years ago and I never have had a return of the difficulty; the whole area once infected is sound and healthy and perfect.
