Let me say that Christian Science is not only a healing system, but the Christian religion, the aim of which is to give a complete knowledge of primitive Christianity as taught by Christ Jesus and proved by his works, which he enjoined all faithful Christians to emulate. The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, has compiled the teachings of Christian Science in a textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." This textbook is founded solely on the Bible and its spiritual interpretation; and this spiritual interpretation is accepted by Christian Scientists as absolute Science. The healing of sickness is by no means the chief aim of Christian Science, but Christian Science acknowledges it to be one of the stipulations of Christianity.

It is wrong to connect Christian Science with spiritualism, human autosuggestion, and such like. Chapters IV and V of Science and Health very strongly repudiate every kind of formula, spiritualism, occultism, and all influence of so-called human will-power.
