Love's Triumph

Is it well with the child?—II Kings 4:26.

When the clouds of sense descending,
Seem to gather drear and wild,
Can you say with thought transcending,
It is well with God's own child?
Say that Truth is power unending,
All is well with God's own child?

Banish doubt, and let your clear sight
See God's image undefiled.
Take Love's gift—it is your birthright;
Know 't is well with God's own child.
Know—since man reflects the God-light—
All is well with God's own child.

See! The clouds of sense have broken;
Light reveals man reconciled.
Love has conquered; God has spoken;
Peace belongs to God's own child.
And man, emblem of Love's token,
Stands forth free as God's own child.
