I have found that if anyone will take the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and give it his honest study with a desire to do right and to live right, there is no sin or disease but what can be healed.

I began the study of Christian Science while working in a public gambling house. While working in that environment, I had three beautiful healings. First, of smoking—I had been what the doctors call a cigarette fiend. I smoked all the time—the first thing in the morning and the last thing at night; I would wake up in the night and have to smoke before I could go back to sleep. My next healing was of drinking; I had used drink to excess. My next healing was the desire to gamble or be in a gambling house.

I know that these healing are permanent, as it is over five years since they occurred. They were accomplished by the honest study of the Bible and Science and Health, the daily study of the Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly, and regular attendance at the church services.
