A number of years ago I was taken very ill and was not able to take care of my family, or do any of my work for a year. Our family doctor did not know what was wrong with me, and advised me to consult another doctor. I did so, and was told to go to a hospital at once. I had all I could do to get there, and he told me I should rest three days and then have an operation, although the doctors did not know what the difficulty was. They operated and found a malignant condition, and could do nothing. I so longed to be home with my little ones that they said at the hospital I might go, as I would be happier there, and I could not live anyway.

My husband had heard of Christian Science, so he went to the Reading Room and asked for help. They gave him a copy of The Christian Science Journal with a list of practitioners and he selected one, and work was taken up. The practitioner gave me a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, to read. The work began about the middle of February. I had treatments for about two months and was healed, so that I did all my work that summer, which was not a little, as I lived on a farm and had five children. I have six now, as one was born after the healing. We have had much help since then through the aid of a practitioner, but we also have done much for ourselves through the reading of our textbook.

In the winter of 1924 I fell one icy day, hurting my leg. I was unable to put on my shoe or stocking, so I studied the textbook; but I was unable to get the true realization, so called up a practitioner and was healed with al few treatments.
