At a time when I was confined to bed for a period of nine weeks, suffering from what a physician pronounced tuberculosis of the lungs, the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was placed in my hands by one who had been healed through its teaching. I was not able to read much, as my eyes were weak, but the book appealed to me and I had a great desire to continue reading it. As soon as I was able to be out, I went to an eye specialist who ordered glasses, which I had made. To my great joy, however, I found that I did not need them, but could read without any discomfort, proving that right desire is the prayer which is answered. This was my first healing, and in gratitude I earnestly sought to gain some understanding of Christian Science. I began at once to study the Lesson-Sermons, attend the church services regularly, and read all the Christian Science literature. Through the reading alone, the lung trouble and many other ailments just melted away into their native nothingness. Since that time, which was nine years ago, I have had numerous proofs of the beneficial effects of Christian Science, not only physically, but mentally, morally, and financially as well; and while I realize that there is still much to be overcome, I rejoice to know that "with God all things are possible."
I am profoundly grateful to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who worked so faithfully to give us this wonderful revelation; for the blessing of membership in both The Mother Church and a branch Church of Christ, Scientist; for the privilege of having class instruction from a loyal teacher of Christian Science; and for all the loving friends who have helped me along the way. I am also deeply grateful to God.—(Mrs.) Felice B. Lutters, Berkeley, California.
