Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

Northern California.

It seems appropriate that this report should open with an acknowledgment of the sincere gratitude due our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her unselfish labors and inspired guidance which are being brought into clearer perspective as the years advance. Perhaps no activity of the Christian Science organization gives more conclusive proof of Mrs. Eddy's divinely inspired and continuing leadership than the work which she anticipated and which is being largely accomplished through the office of the Committees on Publication throughout the world. This work has been and continues to be an important factor in keeping the public correctly informed regarding the teaching and practice of Christian Science and also in gaining the good will of the press, of law-making bodies, and of public officials, with ensuing benefits and protection.

Experience with the press during the past year has emphasized the fair and friendly attitude of editors, who continue, with rare exceptions, to delete unfavorable references to Christian Science made in sermons and in articles. The willingness with which editors invariably accept and print corrections of occasional misstatements about Christian Science is an added proof of their desire to be fair. There has been a decided abatement of attacks on Christian Science in the religious and medical press.
