In appreciation of the encouragement I have enjoyed...
In appreciation of the encouragement I have enjoyed from reading testimonies published in our literature, I offer this testimony. Eleven years ago I was kept from a mastoid operation on one of my ears, by Christian Science treatment suggested by a friend who visited me in the hospital. This healing, and a dissatisfaction with my former religious teaching, created a desire to know how such wonderful things were done. The years following have brought many added blessings, in the healing of melancholia, catarrh in the head, acute indigestion, a large and painful bunion, as well as the solution of financial and business problems, and a satisfying knowledge of God and man.
Since our marriage, my husband has turned to Christian Science for guidance in his business, and our little children have been kept in excellent health by the prompt application of the truth whenever mortal mind attempted to make a claim on them. The birth of our last baby was attended by no fear and very little suffering. A condition of misplacement, manifesting itself several weeks before the birth, was entirely rectified in one treatment. We had engaged a Christian Science nurse to come about the middle of December, and were to notify her later just when to come. A special delivery letter sent on the fifteenth telling her to come on the twentieth failed to reach her, because she was guided through her own mental work to leave for our home that morning, arriving just one hour and a half before the baby was born, the night of the fifteenth. We read in the sixty-fifth chapter of Isaiah, "And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." And in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 494), we read, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
For the physical and spiritual benefits which have come to me and mine through Christian Science I am profoundly grateful to our Father-Mother God, to Christ Jesus, the Wayshower, and to Mrs. Eddy, its revelator to this age. I am also grateful for the loving and patient assistance of practitioners; for class instruction; for membership in The Mother Church in Boston, Massachusetts, and in a branch church; for Sunday school instruction and teaching; and for Mrs. Eddy's writings and the periodicals. The Weekly Lesson-Sermons provided in the Christian Science Quarterly have met a lifelong desire for a systematic and intelligent study of the Scriptures. Through the practical application of these lessons to one's daily life anyone may prove that Christian Science is both Christian and scientific.—(Mrs.) Mabelle Head Hansell, Tacoma, Washington.
