For some time I have felt a great desire to write my testimony for publication, giving grateful thanks for the blessings which have come to me, and for the liberation from discordant conditions to which I was for many years in bondage.
My first introduction to Christian Science was in 1905, through a friend who was visiting my home, and I shall never forget the inspiration, the joy, and the peace that came to me through my friend's explanation of Christian Science. Indeed, the very light of heaven seemed to dawn on me, and I was immediately lifted out of the depths of despondency. I felt intuitively that my friend was giving me the knowledge of something that would liberate me from the pangs of mental and physical suffering which I had long endured, and my first and greatest healing was that of morphine addiction. I had had all kinds of medical attention, and had spent weeks in sanatoriums, without the slightest helpful result. It was in St. Louis that I found the "pearl of great price," and I was beautifully and permanently healed of this habit through the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner.
I have also been healed of ptomaine poisoning; heart, kidney, stomach trouble, and many other disabilities too numerous to mention, have been overcome; but the enlightenment and regeneration that I have experienced through the study and application of Christian Science have meant more to me than all else. My healings created in me a great desire to help others as I have been helped, and the way was soon opened for my entrance into this blessed field of labor.
