What a glorious privilege is afforded the student of Christian Science...
What a glorious privilege is afforded the student of Christian Science to testify to the efficacy of our demonstrable religion, to give evidence of its healing power, thereby passing the cup of cold water to those who may be seeking the truth, and to help relieve them from bondage!
First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Baltimore, Maryland, worshiped in a hall for fifteen years, and although my office was in the same building, I never attended a service. The efficacy and healing power of Christian Science were demonstrated to me in the healing of a beloved daughter, and thereafter there was always a kindly spot in my heart for Christian Science. I did not, however, attempt the study of it until about five years ago, when I received a letter from my daughter lovingly suggesting that I call upon a practitioner for the solution of a problem which had been a source of much unpleasantness for many years. An hour after the receipt of this letter I was seated in the home of a practitioner; and I realized that the time had come for me to accept this blessed truth. The textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was given to me. I took the book to my office, and read it continually. It seemed as if I could not let go of it. This continued for several days, and my visits to the practitioner were daily. During the first week I informed her that although I had been reading the book but a few days, I felt that my problem had been solved, that I was healed and would not be troubled as I had been for many years. This healing caused me to investigate thoroughly the teachings of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, with the result that I became an ardent student.
I did not seek this blessed truth for physical healing, although prior to accepting it I had been examined by a physician, who informed me I had high blood pressure. I was given medicine for this trouble, and told to be very careful. I was made full or fear.
