In your recent issue, a contributor humorously discussed the flies which bothered him, and referred to Christian Science when he said, "I'd like to see some of that particular religious proclivity practiced and get results on these flies with that method." Part of his comments on the subject show that he has a mistaken concept of the method of Christian Science practice.
Christian Science teaches that troublesome and noxious characteristics, whether in insects, animals, or human beings, do not come from God; that such characteristics are unknown to God, and therefore need not disturb mankind. The application of Christian Science turns thought away from the fly itself, with the understanding that unpleasant aggressiveness is not a product of God's law, and that God, divine Love, always produces harmony and peace. Thus the objectionable qualities are destroyed, together with their disagreeable effects. Such an understanding of God's goodness guarded Daniel from the mouths of the lions and protected Paul from the sting of the viper. In the same way, Christian Science, following the method of Christ Jesus, destroys all kinds of inharmony.
