A few years ago I was almost a mental, moral, and physical...

A few years ago I was almost a mental, moral, and physical wreck, and was taking medicine every few hours. The doctor was very kind and did what he could, but gave me very little hope of being able to help me.

At that time a cousin came from Florida to visit us, and it was through her the truth was presented to me. I shall never forget the night she asked me to read the chapter on Prayer in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I had nearly given up reading by artificial light, as my eyesight was failing and I would not wear glasses. I told her I did not think I could see to read, but she urged me to try. At first I could hardly distinguish the words, but gradually as I read they became clearer; and I read many pages that night. Within a few days I threw away all my medicine, and have never taken any since.

I read Science and Health through eight times, and then took up the study of it and Mrs. Eddy's other works in connection with the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly. I can now read for hours, by any ordinary light, even such fine print as the vest-pocket edition of Science and Health.

With the aid of a kind practitioner and of Christian Science friends I have been able to apply the truth and overcome many discordant conditions, among them dyspepsia, influenza, colds, and the tobacco habit of twenty years' standing; but greater than all physical healing has been the moral uplift. I cannot find words to express my gratitude for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for Mary Baker Eddy and the Christian Science friends who have so lovingly helped me.—Roy R. French, King City, Missouri.
