The following is only one of many demonstrations we have had in our home, and I am giving this testimony in the hope that it may help others to prove that God is "a very present help in trouble." One evening while sitting on the balcony, my daughter, who was then eleven years of age, asked permission to play hide and seek with some children around a house that was being built across the way, and I gave my consent. They had no sooner begun to play than suddenly I heard a scream, "Oh, a nail, a nail! Mother, I stepped on a nail!" I said, "Come upstairs." "I can't! I can't get my foot up!" she cried. As I stood trying to collect my thoughts quite a big boy came to her assistance. I saw him stoop and with both hands pull her foot from the nail. The truth that God is ever present and that there are no accidents in Mind, was instantly applied. In fifteen minutes the child stopped crying; and taking some fancy work I went on to the balcony to embroider. When the shoes and stockings had been removed, it was found that the nail had passed almost through the foot.

That night the child was very restless and complained that her foot was hurting; and as fear seemed to possess me it was thought best to ask for help. A practitioner was called by telephone, and work was begun. This was on a Saturday. The following Thursday the child was able to put her slipper on and go with us to the country to spend the day. She played hard all dayin the haymow, in the fields, doing everything that the other children did, without any inconvenience. Two days later, after she had played all day in the park, she complained that her foot felt sore. Upon examining it I could see that something needed to be removed; and as I washed the foot a small piece of leather, a part of the sole of her shoe, came out of the sore at the top of the foot. To me this meant much; for the piece of leather, which had gone into the foot with the nail, had passed completely out without any serious results; for which I am very grateful.

With the help of Christian Science the healing continued. The foot in a short time was completely restored. It is needless to say that I am very thankful for Christian Science; for it has proved to me that the truth does remove everything that is unlike God, good, and that He is an ever present help.
