In common with other Christian Scientists I greatly appreciate...

Globe-Democrat

In common with other Christian Scientists I greatly appreciate the excellent report in your recent issue of a lecture on Christian Science delivered by W. Stuart Booth of Denver, Colorado, in First Church of Christ, Scientist, University City. May I, however, call attention to one point in which your report does not give the thought of the lecturer. The last paragraph reads as follows: "Christian Science has nothing in common with mental suggestion or any human mind methods, but, instead, is the influence of men with the divine Mind, God." I refer particularly to the last clause in which evidently through a typographical error the prepositions "of" and "with" have been transposed. It should read, "but, instead, is the influence with men of the divine Mind, God." It might be inferred from the report that Christian Science teaches that men may attempt to persuade the divine Mind to exercise His power in their behalf, or that in some way men may control the divine Mind. On the contrary, Christian Science teaches that divine Mind governs all and is not subject to any influence whatsoever. When men recognize the absolute government of God, divine Mind, and are obedient to the demands of this Mind, they are able to overcome for themselves and for others all that is contrary to God, good. In this endeavor they are following the apostolic injunction, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus."
